Dress code is REQUIRED for several reasons:
-First, it provides freedom of movement while offering necessary support.
-Second, it fosters a sense of professionalism and unity among students.
-Third, it allows instructors to assess alignment and technique accurately.

Can I buy dancewear from somewhere else?
It is required to buy official class tops to wear during dance. This ensures the material is of the highest quality and that our dancers are uniform with each other. Just as a football team all has the same jersey, our dancers have the same dance wear! The tights we use are specifically engineered for dance. They are long-lasting and durable. This is in contrast to regular tights you may find at the store.

What if I have earlier years leotards and shoes?
If you have previously purchased dance wear from Centre Stage before the dress code change, you can keep wearing those leotards.
Can I wear something else to class?
Twinkle/Shimmer leotards are required for class as well as approved tops for levels I-IV.
Why do we need approved tops?
- Freedom of movement: the most obvious reason is that dancers, who are also considered athletes, need clothing that will aid in their education. Dancers move- A LOT. We want to ensure they have the appropriate coverage that will move with them.
- Prevent injury: Additionally, it helps teachers to see if the dancer has proper body alignment/placement during technical training. They can correct the posture when needed. If the bones are not aligned, the student might end up forcing the rotation and get injured.
- Aesthetics: Dance is an art. Wearing uniformed dancewear allows for instructors to better see routines as a group, and also creates uniformity within the studio.
